Color Box Paper: Coated Paper
Coated paper, made by coating base paper, has excellent optical and printing properties. Used for magazines, books, trademarks, packaging, catalogs, etc. While global names vary, domestic standards include newsprint, dictionary paper, copperplate paper, cast-coated paper, offset printing paper, offset book paper, writing paper, single-sided writing paper, book cover paper, and corrugated medium.
Introduction to paper used for color boxes
1. Coated paper The so-called coated paper is produced by applying a layer of coating material on the base paper, endowing the paper with excellent optical properties and printing performance. It is primarily used for printing publications such as magazines and books, as well as trademarks, packaging, and product catalogs.
The names of these products vary across countries, but some of them have been standardized domestically. Among them, the more commonly used ones include newsprint, dictionary paper, copperplate paper, cast-coated paper, offset printing paper, offset book paper, writing paper, single-sided writing paper, book cover paper, corrugated medium, cardboard, kraft paper, striped kraft paper, mika paper, white kraft paper, single-sided white board, single-sided coated white board, cast-coated white board, and thick board. For imported products that do not have official names in China or newly developed products domestically, they can be named based on their purposes or characteristics. Due to geographical differences, Hong Kong and the mainland use varying names for these products. Table 1-9 lists some of these names for reference.

2. Pitch paper"Jiankeng paper" refers to corrugated cardboard without top sheets, allowing the corrugated pattern to be visible. It is generally a semi-finished product that needs to be processed with another material mentioned above to become cardboard. There are various types of "Jiankeng paper", including single-corrugated "Jiankeng paper" (see Figure 1-9), double-corrugated "Jiankeng paper" (see Figure 1-10), and triple-corrugated "Jiankeng paper". The commonly used single-corrugated types include E-corrugated and B-corrugated, such as A9, A3, K3, etc. The commonly used double-corrugated types include BC-corrugated and AB-corrugated, such as A3A3, K3A3, etc. The top sheets are generally copperplate paper or coated paper, with patterns printed on them. They are processed together with the "Jiankeng paper" using the lamination process, which involves bonding them together with glue. There are automatic lamination and manual lamination methods.
